Oly what?
Hi! We’re the Olympia Sandlot Collective. We’re a brand new baseball community in the South Puget Sound.
We're for anyone who wants to enjoy the game of baseball — inclusive of age (18+), sex, gender expression/identity, background and skill level.
We prioritize community and camaraderie over competition. We swing wood bats and hit real baseballs. We run no drills, award no trophies, and keep no stats.
There are no joining fees, team fees or umpire fees (though a fiver to offset costs is always appreciated). Heck, right now we don't even have teams or umpires.
We do have a mailing list and a Discord, and we’d love it if you signed up.

You! (Assuming you want to play baseball, and you’re over 18). Whether you’ve never played organized ball, you played in the Show, or you’ve only ever played MLB The Show — you’re welcome here.

For Open Sandlot, just show up! There are no tryouts - we’re not about that life.
We’d love it if you signed up for the mailing list and joined the Discord — then you’ll know when and where we’ll be. https://forms.gle/y82iz9JYoMYawVUs5

Remember when you just showed up with your friends and a ball and you just… played ball? It’s like that. Some weeks we might play a whole game. Some weeks we might chase balls around, followed by a beverage.
Oly Sandlot owes a great debt to the Carolina Sandlot Collective, from whom we <strike>shamelessly stole this idea</strike> draw inspiration, as well as the Sandlot Revolution.
We believe baseball is for everyone. We believe community is more important than competition. We believe it’s really important to get outside when it’s not raining.

Our home field this spring/summer is Timberline High School’s JV field. But we change it up sometimes — check the schedule on the website or in the Spond app for the latest.

Bring a glove if you’ve got one. If you don’t have one, let us know so that we can make sure we have loaners. If you’ve got spares you can share, bring ‘em.
Bring a batting helmet (for safety), or be willing to wear a borrowed one (for safety).
Wear whatever you’re comfortable moving in, and getting a little dirty. Most people wear a baseball cap, shirt, and pants. Cleats are handy if you’ve got them, but not mandatory.
And water. Bring water.

We think it’s the realest baseball. We play mostly standard rules, but before any of that:
Be cool.
We’re playing to have fun. Nobody’s getting scouted.Winning isn’t everything.
Heck, some weeks we might not even keep score. If this thought gives you hives, the PSSBL is right up the road.Respect each other.
…regardless of skill or ability. Some of us played ball in high school. Some of us are new to the sport. Everyone’s welcome here.
We all gotta go to work in the morning.
No intentional collisions. Give the runner a lane, don’t hit the fielder, no stealing home on wild pitches. In short, If it’ll give someone a concussion, don’t.
There are some Official Rules of Baseball, but we’ll be honest: they’re more like guidelines, really. Just show up.
