Oly what now?
We’re the Olympia Sandlot Collective. We’re a brand new baseball community in the South Puget Sound.
We're for anyone who wants to enjoy the game of baseball — inclusive of age (18+), sex, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, class, background, or skill level.
We prioritize community and camaraderie over competition. We swing wooden bats and hit real baseballs. We run no drills, award no trophies, and keep no stats. We'll play on fields throughout the greater Olympia area, depending on availability and interest.
There are no joining fees, team fees or umpire fees. Heck, right now we don't even have teams or umpires. We do have a mailing list, and we’d love it if you joined — then you’ll know when our first hangout is.

You! (Assuming you want to play baseball, and you’re over 18). Whether you’ve never played organized ball, or you played in college, you’re welcome.
-
Drop us a line on the Google Form — we’ll keep you up to date on the next event! https://forms.gle/y82iz9JYoMYawVUs5
There are no tryouts - we’re not about that life.

Remember when you just showed up with your friends and a ball and you just…played ball? It’s kinda like that. Some weeks we might play a game. Some weeks it might just be batting practice and chasing balls around, followed by a beverage.
Oly Sandlot owes a great debt to the Carolina Sandlot Collective, from whom <strike>we shamelessly stole this idea</strike> draw inspiration, as well as the Sandlot Revolution.
We believe baseball is for everyone. We believe community is more important than competition. We believe it’s really important to get outside when it’s not raining.

Specifics TBD, but we’ll be playing on fields in the Olympia/Tumwater/Lacey area.

Not much! Bring a glove if you’ve got one. If you don’t have one, let us know so that we can make sure we have loaners. If you’ve got gloves, bats, or helmets, we almost definitely need them.
Most people wear a baseball cap, shirt, and shorts or pants. Cleats are handy if you’ve got them, but not mandatory.
And water. Bring water.
-
Be cool. We’re playing to have fun. Nobody’s getting scouted.
Winning isn’t everything. Heck, some weeks we might not even keep score. If this thought gives you hives, the PSSBL is right up the road.
Respect each other, regardless of skill or ability. Some of us played ball in high school. Some of us are new to the sport. Everyone’s welcome here.
There are some Official Rules of Baseball, but we’ll be honest: they’re more like guidelines, really. Just show up.
